Oui, et peut-être vrai que l'intervention étrangère peut aider le recrutement de djihadistes (au Sahel). Mais, contrefactual, s'il n'y a pas d'intervention et djihadistes fais grandes attaques et contrôlent le territoire, cela conduit à plus de recrutement comment Gao juin 2012.

That’s not what he’s saying, either in the headline or this interview or in his work though. Starting with the headline, “*More* French troops = more jihadist” is not “there would be no jihadists without French troops”

Right. The implication may be, tho, more French troops = more jihadists and that is negative. However, 1 can argue fewer or no French troops = more jihadists than if more French troops do arrive. The piece seems to advocate against French troops on the first equation grounds.
