The thing about the Lincoln-Douglas debate is that each one lasted 3 hours, and in the end, Douglas--not Lincoln--won the election.

All of which is to say, if I read another story or tweet lamenting our long decline from Lincoln-Douglas to Twitter, I'm gonna scream.

Also, Lincoln wasn't above using unsubstantiated conspiracy theories to score points off Douglas. (Love Lincoln despite that.)
