Which, in my view, has become a self fulfilling prophecy of creating violent male criminals. Men are born into a society that actually doesn’t care whether or not they live or die, only that they compete.

That is the culture that creates the powerful men who are perceived as a “patriarchy” and also the powerless men who litter the streets and prisons. The powerful men are the winners of that tacit threat of disposal, the powerless men are disposed of.

So I suppose the thesis of my multi-tweet is that my gender is not a problem, but there are problems within my gender. The difference is subtle, but I feel critically important if we want to reduce the victims of violence in society; male, female, human, whatever.

The problem is the expectations we put on the male gender & all the excuses we give ur gender simply bc a lot of our expectations for masculinity were negative 2 begin w/. Men continue 2 b allowed 2 get away w/ it & rarely can find help bc of how we cultivate masculinity.

And men are absolutely treated as commodities in society, just in a different way than women are. https://www.sss.gov/

The real consequences for not registering is being barred from federal loans like pell grants and being banned from applying for federal jobs.

That sucks & should be changed but I don’t think it is heavily enforced the same in every state bc my brother & cousins definitely didn’t register but still received grants for school. But this is something that should definitely be addressed & reconsidered even if not enforced.

Have you asked them if they registered when they turned 18? A lot of males do this alone and don’t really talk about it, because it does suck, and it does need to change. But that’s kind of my point. There’s a male narrative and experience that tends to hide and be hidden.

It hides because men are socialized to burry their emotions, and is hidden because feminist leaders won’t talk about male problems.

Most feminist leaders r women & a lot do speak on male issues like mental health, circumcision, male sexual assault/dv survivors etc. but a woman cannot b the lead voice 4 men issues & vice versa all we can do is try 2 destroy gender roles but more men need 2 support men issues.
