    CNS ECs quickly lose identity in culture; forcing b-catenin had little effect in vitro (vs. somewhat restoration in vivo) now shown by at transcriptional level. It adds another bioinformatic tool to CNS EC databases available!Check it out!

    Applied to his lab for postdoc but rejected. Yet had a chance to be lectured by Dr. Barres at MBL in Woods Hole. It’s no secret that he was a great scientist, teacher and mentor. On a personal note, he encouraged me to take on an opportunity with Dr. Jeremy Nathans.

    So true. Most new group members are surprised (and somewhat relieved) to learn that the vast majority of our experiments fail, even though most projects eventually succeed. The essence of experimental science is observing, carefully analyzing, and learning from repeated failure.

    Good news. 1st clinical trial in the US with autologous IPS cell based product for vision loss. Joins other important trials including in Japan. Real long-term hope here for vision loss
