I was put on Ritalin back in my middle school days. It killed my happiness and made me feel like a zombie. I hated it. I think that was the closest I'd ever been to knowing what depression feels like.

At one time, I tried to enlist in the military. Wouldn't you know it, they turned me away for having been on the stuff long ago, even though it's been 10+ years.

I suggest to any parent: If a doctor tries to prescribe Ritalin or any other kind of Behavior Control Drug... TURN THEM DOWN!!!

ADDENDUM: I'm not sure if it's related, but I've also had some problems with my memory since taking it back then. I don't know if that's a side effect or not.

It depends on if you had an under-active prefrontal cortex. Were there other side effects when you were taking it and how long were you taking it? Do you suffer from any emotional problems in addition to memory loss?

I'm not sure about the first bit, and as for other side effects I think that's about it. My parents gave it to me for about a year or so before they realized it wasn't really helping me. And emotions, well sometimes I find it difficult to show emotion, like happiness.

Wow! I thought it was only me! Was on Ritalin for 7 years caused a lot of issues, gender confusion, stunt growth, and a cloudy memory! Dr. said I had nice breasts at one time before taking me off of it! The Dr. was a Nazi!
