    It's not often that a site in Iowa records 20" of rainfall in one month, however Ionia in Chickasaw Co. did just that in August. Based on estimations from , it's only happened five times. More info at -

    No no no

    An area of disturbed weather over the Yucatan Peninsula is forecast to move northwestward over the western or central Gulf of Mexico early next week. Conditions could become marginally conducive for some development, and there is a low chance of formation through Wednesday.

    SPOTLIGHT: After the remnants of moved through the Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, the @NOAA/NASA 🛰️ caught some "after" imagery today. Notice the brown silt in the local waterways from the rainfall that wasn't there in the "before" imagery.

    interesting stat!

    is now a - the 5th of 2021 Atlantic season and 4th hurricane formation since 18 August. It’s the first time on record that the Atlantic has had more than 3 hurricane formations between 18 August and 2 September.

    To be clear... this particular warning for NYC is the second time we've ever issued a Flash Flood Emergency (It's the first one for NYC). The first time we've issued a Flash Flood Emergency was for Northeast New Jersey a an hour ago.
