April 27th, 2011- A very long day for meteorologists and the people of the Deep South, a historic day filled with long track, significant tornadoes and mass destruction. May we never forget those who lost their lives that day.

Snow possibly in excess of 3 inches between I-94 and I-96 on Saturday night in West Michigan. Having snow late in April it is not unheard of. There has even been snow in May before! On May 9th, 1923 — 5.5” of snow fell in Grand Rapids, MI.

Most of us think of "Tornado Alley" as Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, right? Well, there's a secondary tornado alley called "Dixie Alley"- Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, and it has been MUCH more active than the midwest this year.
