Some of my DSA comrades are following this intensely ableist account and I just have to say: Not cool.pic.twitter.com/McAmVue7g4

@ victoriaxxvii and a series of liked tweets that include one saying wheelchair users should just be dragged behind cars

There is no universe in which "joking" about inaccessible transportation and wheelchair users being dragged behind cars is okay.

And anyone I see joking about the inaccessible capitalist hellscape disabled people deal with every day like it's all a good laugh is catching a fucking block. Our lives are hard enough.

Going to check back tomorrow and start unfollowing and maybe softblocking my mutuals who follow this account. If you're fine with this behavior, that tells me I, as a disabled person, can't trust you like I hoped I could.

Welp, this has been QTd by @arthur_affect and someone tagged in @DavidFutrelle, both of whom used to be my mutuals on another account and have grown massive followings since the days of fighting GG assholes, so, this thread is probably blowing up tonight. Let me add some things.

This is in no way a shot at DSA. I am a DSA member and have served on multiple organizing committees. I believe the DSA is a force for good that, like any open org, has a few scattered jerks in the membership and has systemic work to do regarding disability.

That said, if you think disabled people are expendable because we are "not workers," or think our issues are not part of a cohesive Left vision, you are not my comrade. It's not about diversity of tactics or thought. It's about the survival of myself and people like me.

As expected, I woke up with a new thread of people to block. About half the responses were "Oh, I was following this person but didn't realize they were hating on disabled people, not okay." Which I appreciate. The other half were like this.pic.twitter.com/sCFEvHb46B

Some of you have earnestly engaged with this, and if I miss any of your questions or comments in the dreck, I apologise. To answer at least one question, I have EDS (Ehlers Danlos) and many common comorbidities like POTS, Celiac, etc. I use a cane, a walker, or a wheelchair.
