My last photo share of this year. These were my 4 best "get-it-quick" moments in 2019. I had the chance to take one or two shots only: then it was gone! Very best wishes for New Year, everyone. Have a peaceful and enjoyable 2020. Simon :-)

Sometimes I wonder why I bother trying to photograph foxes in the winter. Walking miles through mud, sitting for hours in the freezing cold mostly with no reward... then one shows up and I remember why.

New blog: Pipit. "Peeping nearby is a Berthelot's Pipit. It's against a deep ravine in beautiful blue shadow."

The lovely greenfinch has perhaps the most boring Latin name given to any bird. Chloris chloris means 'green green'.

The last session with the Lammergier today, and one which provided some memorable close encounters. Last day of the trip tomorrow and a return to try again for golden eagles.

A great day for lighthouse watching today. Seems far too long since we’ve seen this kind of blue...

At Nam Nao NP today. Poor birding in lovely cool weather. However I had a great encounter with this Red Billed Blue Magpie which I think was a juvenile. We shared a sandwich & a cool drink of water. Why juvenile? It was begging food from me like its parents.

A solitary dunlin. I wonder how social birds like this feel when they are alone for long periods.
