My former job had this, just without the silly "honor points" branding. It was a system to let bosses give out bonuses to employees, the points could be redeemed for gift cards. (every time I got one it was 50-200 range) But it was NEVER considered as part of compensation.

So instead of giving blizzard workers relevant pay you just give them a lot less and try to pawn off the remaining to a reward system? Wack

Hey, I get "honor points" at work too! Although mine is called MONEY and I can redeem it for all goods and services and not just Blizzard branded merchandise...

Sounds exactly like a system we have at work, you can give colleagues points (max 500 per month) and they can use them to purchase things from an catalog of stuff.

I worked at Google for couple of months, and they also had a program like this, but it was not Honor Points but real money. Sometimes we were given another bonuses, but it did not impact pay.
