Damn. Shaw prospers off of war, Anduin is aiming for peace, so Mathias is taking this opportunity to try to get Greymane to take the throne in Anduin's stead instead of Turalyon. One step closer to the wardog taking charge of the Alliance forces, and maybe the crown itself.
-
I mean, have you heard his dialogue in BFA? When asked what he would do after the war is over by Halford Wyrmbane he answered: "The war after this one, and the one after that one".

I think Turalyon is the perfect stand in for Anduin
-
I think if anyone deserves to retire and rest, it’s Turalyon. Having taken part in a galactic war spanning a dozen lifetimes, surely interfactional conflict and matters of administering a kingdom would be of little interest.

“The Boy King serves at the Master’s table. Three lies will he offer.” What if the one offering the lies is the Master... the Spy Master. Shaw had a hand in just about every major event of Battle for Azeroth.
-
Also, he seems to be reading directly out of the Scarlet Brotherhood Playbook.

"Villainizing" the alliance has to be done very carefully because of potential problematic undertones (racism, internment camps, bigotry), but this seems a safe potential direction to do it internally. Internal power struggles are tried, true and "safer" than the alternatives.
-
i mean.. racism is why the Horde exists right ?:D and why the Belf are what they are etc. like racism in WoW is a normal concept, mostly because they are actual races, unlike humans haha.
