  2. So, Twitter can be good?

  3. One of the most surprising things about Twitter is that you can actually find a lot of good book recommendations to add to your reading list. Of course it makes writing my own stuff harder, because it means there are more books that I feel like I need to read.

  5. Glad the results are rolling in so they can pretend to have something substantive to talk about now.

  6. The only thing left to do was complain about the lack of results. They'd run out of things to say long before the caucus votes had even started. All in all, it was a great reminder as to why I don't watch TV news, esp. cable news. It's so inane.

  7. I periodically checked the nytimes results tracker, and spent time working on my next video. Before going to bed I checked the news again and laughed. If they were already killing time before, the delay in results had only made it worse.

  8. Here's my unsolicited take on the coverage. I started watching the news at 8:00 PM EST, and when it was clear that the pundits and reporters were killing time by bloviating and just waiting for the results to start rolling in, I turned everything off.

Now that the media has moved on from Australia to , maybe they can dig a little deeper and look at things that are actually working.

This reminds me of how we make little ones say sorry when they grab a toy from another kid. Much better would be to provide the moral community that makes sharing easy. Especially non-age segregated play with older kids who can set good examples

Jeremiah wrote, 'How long will the land mourn, and the grass of every field wither? For the wickedness of those who live in it, the animals and the birds are swept away, and because people said, 'He is blind to our ways.'" --William Bryant Logan

"The way we treat the land is the way we treat each other, and the ways of humans to each other are as ecologically important as a water table. Wrong behavior ruined both people and the land around them.

Which means I'm really excited for dandelion season both for me and my pigs! (This is from last year, and it's mostly wild lettuce. I'm still excited for dandelions.)

One thing I learned was that the kidneys of goats in utero whose mothers fed on salt brush develop differently than goat in utero who were fed on green pasture. I don't think we've begun to understand the interconnected nature of life.

This book's been on my list for a little while. This is a great discussion.

It killed them, of course. The more I learn about scientific studies, the more I wonder how they get approved. It also makes you wonder about all the studies that get rejected. This story is from 's "The Hidden Life of Trees." It's worth the read.

So here's a great story. It is hard to research the upper levels of tree canopies. Cranes are expensive. In 2009, a scientist sprayed the oldest tree in the Bavarian Forest National Park with an insecticide to see what insects and spiders were living in the tree.

My advice is to use the internet for information gathering, but then go out into the physical world. Make connections. Houses are not always listed online, especially if you're looking for an older more affordable home.
