  1. A very interesting read from about the data set that led to her recent retraction of two papers.

  2. This isn't a trivial point either; philosophy needs the freedom of thought that comes with being able to think not just within but also outside of history.

  3. Philosophy (and the same applies to culture) also *shouldn't* be separated from an understanding that its specific history may ultimately be arbitrary; philosophy could have followed any number of other evolutions. From a philosophical p.o.v., no history is a necessary history.

  4. Someone needs to write "Ní thuigim Béarla" on this. (That's "I don't understand English" in Gaelic.)

English version of the manifesto finally live! "...success in science has become more synonymous with knowing how to please publishers than with deepening human knowledge of nature and enriching our cognitive experience of our universe."

(6/6) Sixth (and final!) claim of the book: "The system and the system intimately interact. Neuroimmunologists’ claims that the immune system can influence behavior and even cognition are worth examining." Open access:

  8. Dershowitz must have decided epistemologists are the biggest threat to and so carefully crafted this speech in order to make their brains explode. That or he wrote it high.

  9. 2 years ago, the same jury head, now working in the ministry for research and higher education, moved mountains to allow me be the only person in France enrolled simultaneously in 2 PhD programmes (neuroscience&philosophy) in 2 different universities, so I knew he'd liked it too!

  10. A wonderful latter-life interview with the one and only Paul Feyerabend by . Thanks to for the heads up. During my master's dissertation defence, the jury chair called me a "dyed in the wool Feyerabendian", so I knew he'd gotten it🧙‍♂️

"Il est donc urgent qu’un véritable débat public s’engage sur l’avenir de la recherche en France." Et pourtant, on a tellement du mal à démarrer ce genre de débat dans certaines disciplines ! Il y a un certain m'en foutisme suffisant qui nous rend fou !

Speaking as a neuroscientist, I can confirm that Nietzsche's conclusions were anachronistic, in the sense that his insights, drawn upon a profound knowledge of the biology of his day, were way ahead of their time. In many respects, the scientific enterprise has yet to catch up.
