Maybe some common themes would include making experiences available to everyone (inclusivity) and making things fun #wiadchat. What else can we consider?

I have distinct memories of reading speed being a big thing among some kids: "How fast can you read this? How fast did you finish that chapter?" So easy to compete for those who can. Now keeps me aware of unnecessary shame on someone who processes information slower.

Great point! Kids aren't always friendly or inclusive - probably most people's worlds get bigger and more diverse as they grow up. It's important to embrace that maturity as well.

Can definitely take inspiration from memories of children who thought outside the box of competition (like the Xbox team did, in Doug Kim's example) to achieve a different type of game/fun.

Oddly enough, the ability to "misuse" Game Genie for NES/SNES to alter games' graphics and sound randomly gives me some of my favorite creative memories with my brother.

As children, it is easier for us to experience emotions and empathy- cry when we lose a toy or hug our mommy when we see her sad. I think as UX professionals we need to embrace our inner kid and provide the empathy our users need.

Kids come up with incredibly crazy and inventive solutions. We can all take a page from them to keep our designs from getting stale and repetitive.

A1: We can all relate to traveling as kids in all types of vehicles. Thinking about that and my kids current experiences is really interesting to me.
