...must identify specific points in the MM diagram where it's "safe" and sensible to break from users' MM for their own future sake. Helps to detail these break-the-mold points w/ 1. Clear value to user, 2. Instant way to explain that, 3. How user can learn it quickly.

I use models in a couple of ways. Physical models of the domain (often pictures or workflows) help provide a common grounding for people to discuss. I also use cognitive models to help capture the domain (goals, user & Information needs) in complex problem space.
