I personally struggle with this sometimes. I want to represent the users always, but the stakeholders tend to impact the final design decisions. Anyone else struggles with this or has advise on how to balance the user needs and stakeholder power? #WIADchat

Same. We use metrics &industry research & user surveys to communicate to stakeholders what the Target Audience is expecting/needing. We then design & incorporate functionality that will engage them but still meets a technical/design stakeholder req. Open 2 other ideas.

A2. This is an imp. question.Stakeholders (Internal/External) have their requirements/objectives, but its imp to design w/ Target Audiences in mind 2 ensure that ur product is intuitive, engaging and effective. In the end, if they dont use it, then you missed the mark.

Agreed! UX - User Experience design is m about the users and their experience! It is not called SX - Stakeholders Experience, though sometimes it feels like it b/c they can influence the design.

"Users > Stakeholders" has always been core of my DT, but I make sure to intimately include stakeholders in user definition & design process. Important to leverage stakeholder knowledge but also work to ensure we ALL have shared understanding of who users are/what they need.

It helps take some of the emotion out of decision-making. People can get attached to ideas or thoughts, but always having the touchstone question of 'What do the users think about this?' changes the discussion from subjective to objective.
