This is beautiful... From the coyote's playful behaviour & the badgers relaxed demeanour - I think they're definitely best buds 🐾 Interspecies relationships (mutual benefit) can teach us so much. Its one big world but we're all in it together...

Well, don't ask others to go vegan if you yourself are not. If shooting deer is the way to go then be honest about ethical meat eating and drop the vegan activism.

Good news for fishing says "My experience with beaver waters is that the fish tend to be around the lodges. Wherever you have woody debris you have aquatic invertebrates - aka fish food. Beaver are very willing to do the work of fisheries trust employees for free!"

I really hope this upsurge of landowners applying for NE licences for Beaver reintroductions is the start of something much bigger, more connected & fully holistic in its understanding & management i.e. the means of returning the wild to our lowland land-base?!?

Drivers in the food sector are scalability, yield, and EBIT. Until we redshift & rethink....small scale farming and quality ranching are doomed. Mono-cropping, CAFOs, manufactured foods are the winners.......our health the big losers.

My forthcoming book 'A Small Farm Future' shows how 'we' (in the UK...and in the world) have been/are/will be less likely to die of starvation through local farming & marketing than through farming geared to global commodity markets. Though it does depend on your assumptions...

"Pasture cropping, as it is called, works. Nature likes annual & perennial plants to grow together. Winona grows grain & wool. It’s been productive & profitable too, which suggested that pasture cropping could be an important way to feed people globally."
