    This was an interesting presentation: but didn't take into account how 'personal choices' are viewed differently for different people based on structural injustices. e.g. disabled people seen as lazy, white men seen as 'go-getters', black women seen as angry...

    In presenting "the false promise of risk assessments", gives a critique of algorithmic fairness approaches that really resonated - parts of have moved beyond this in exciting new ways, but there's still a lot in this narrow view.

    Algorithmic fairness sidelines social context, narrowing the scope of judgements about justice and overlooks trajectories of social change such that "fair" algorithms can reinforce discrimination.
