Man I'm going to miss Scott. He was so fucking brilliant, a 1 in a million mind. I hope he starts publishing again, maybe after a hiatus.

a community that can be destroyed with a rumor mill isn't a particularly strong community; compare, for instance, the trans community, about whom all sorts of horrible things are said, yet it endures.
-
Fair enough. Of course, it's a lot harder to just up and leave some communities. I'd bet communities of choice are easier to hurt than communities of non-choice.

if this is about what I think it's fairly obviously about, there's a significant overlap w/ nrx/race scientist/ethnostate-fanboy types in the officially-endorsed subreddits/comment section/broader community, with more-than-sufficient sourcing provided to prove this is the case.

there was probably a point in the last, idk, 3-6 years where it would've been possible to name specific people that probably shouldn't have been welcome in the community, nip it in the bud, but at this point it's the community as a whole that has a problem. I was just noting the difference to the Catholic church pedophilia scandals, where there were specific, named bad actors and specific wronged victims and specific changes made (first to cover it up, later to clean it out,) which is totally different from the vague implications.
