NEW: We examined in detail how 10 popular smartphone apps secretly share extensive personal information with at least 135 companies, systematically breaking EU data protection law. This must end. Two massive reports + legal complaints against 6 companies:

However, CCleaner does share 'app and device usage data with third parties for analytics', according to an option in the Android app's settings, enabled by default. CCleaner's explanations in the thread (+their privacy policy) are not entirely clear to me:

Czech antivirus Avast harvested browsing data and sold it via its subsidiary Jumpshot to all kinds of companies. For the record, Avast's told me it did not share any data collected from devices via CCleaner - or data derived from it - with Jumpshot in the past year.

Will there soon be traffic 'routing engine optimization' (REO) services, who offer either to decrease traffic for the affluent, or to drive increased traffic to certain stores and businesses?

Google and a few other navigation systems increasingly shape+control global traffic flows, and thus increasingly shape the physical world. But you just need some second-hand phones and a handcart to redirect traffic away from a street. Nice art project:

Nice graphic! Do you have any pointer to a resource that shows when FB merged conversion tracking and targeting pixels? Back to my initial q, audiences based on FB pixels can be shared with any other FB (business) account, right? Are there restrictions?

Interesting, thx! So you mean e.g. a ticketing agency asks a client to put a FB pixel to their page/app/property, and then uses the resulting event-based audiences across their clients? Does the pixel 'belong' to the agency or the client in this case?

Companies who use Facebook's "business tools" to send personal data to FB, e.g. event data from websites/apps, can share the resulting 'audiences' with other companies within FB. Can anyone tell me how prevalent this is? Is this rather uncommon or does this happen all the time?

FB violated the GDPR's right of access since 2018, and I think they still store more data they still do not disclose to users now. If I were the , this would be 1 of several 4% fines. More important, I believe FB doesn't have a legal basis to process this data at all.

Anyway, now as we see how companies constantly transmit data on website visits and app usage to FB, let's use this knowledge to advocate for change. It's worth mentioning that Facebook HAD to implement this, at least in the EU, pushed them hard:

FB started to track people across millions of websites+apps without their knowledge many years ago. They didn't even disclose this data to the affected users themselves. Now, they do, and make it look like they are doing 'good', knowing that only a tiny minority will 'opt out'.

worth keeping in mind that Ring encourages cops to go straight to users to request their data, bypassing the “government demands” process (and likely any tally in a “transparency report”) entirely

"In many ways, [information] security is the enemy of privacy" Of course, I'd discuss it under the umbrella of 'data rights' rather than 'privacy', anyway, interesting read on the 'symbiotic, parasitic relationship' between privacy and security:

The came up with an insanely complicated "6 Step" Procedure 's the WhatsApp/FB/Instagram cases - after 20 Months only Step 1of6 is done in one of three cases.. If does not take action, will be as much of a laughing stock as Directive 95/46 was..

Or, how investment analysts see it: "Last-mile delivery accounts for ~53% of the total delivery cost ... using the last-mile delivery program creates small and efficient independent enterprises reducing direct risk to Amazon while cutting ... costs"

Basically, Amazon provides them with everything, from branded vehicles to insurance to uniforms to handhelds to recruitment tools. I guess, 'independent' delivery business operators will make their drivers work more for less, while shifting responsibility away from Amazon.
