    The July Planning Committee is being moved from the 11th to the 17th as it’s likely major applications with public interest could be determined at it. We want to encourage as many residents as possible to be at this meeting, so by moving its date we hope more people can attend.

    The final agenda item tonight is our Primary School Places Strategy 2018/28. This looks at how we plan to provide enough school places in the right places in the Borough alongside new residential developments & infrastructure.

    We also plan to open new libraries in Shinfield & Arborfield as part of the infrastructure for the new communities being built.

    Maiden Erlegh Library had restricted opening hours because it was in a school & the majority of those people using it also used nearby libraries – Woodley’s is 2.5 miles away & Lower Earley’s 1. The rest of users were pupils at the school.

    Next up are our plans to mitigate our library service now that Maiden Erlegh School has asked us to vacate its site. Existing staff will be redeployed at our other libraries, as well as book purchasing, which will benefit the service overall.

    At Reading Rd, managed by LHL, 6 of the 9 units for young people leaving care have now been filled. At Phoenix Ave, managed by BBHL, all but 1 home is filled. And Optalis has now grown from £11m pa to £40m pa following the merger.

    First item on the agenda looks at the financial position of our companies Wokingham Housing Ltd (WHL), Loddon Homes Ltd (LHL), Berry Brook Homes Ltd (BBHL) & Optalis. WHL has so far delivered 130 homes with another 360 in the pipeline…
