We did it! “Poverty and Culture” is being retracted!!! May this be the last time a journal is so cavalier about what it publishes. Racism has absolutely no place in academia.

I’m going to say this in caps bc I strongly believe this: PUBLISHING ARTICLES DOES NOT REDUCE HEALTH DISPARITIES. If you want to improve the health of poor or minoritized patients, you need to work alongside these patients. Get off your ivory tower. Bye.

To my fellow researchers, esp junior ones, fellows, residents and med students. Please remember, "race" is a 100% social construct, not a biological one. Please stop "throwing" race into your regression models if you're studying something biologic. Thanks

Like the time somebody reported me to my boss after speaking on NBC news about the George Floyd protests. — that’s what I’m calling this anon resident. I wonder how many Black/Latinx med students & doctors they’ve also reported. Karen’s are everywhere.

To the Tulane resident who reported my tweets to my school: I hope that you spend more time supporting your co-residents than you do reporting tweets about your program's racism. I won't be quiet. But thanks for trying.

If only Americans felt half the outrage they feel about Texas about Puerto Rico, the commonwealth would not have suffered the largest blackout in US history. Eleven months— that’s how long it took government to restore power to the island after Hurricane Maria. Never forget.
