11.6 million businesses only hiring 9 million people?! With trillions in revenue?! Am I missing something or does that seriously not add up.

So that spreads to $146,551.72 per business. Using 2007 numbers (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/r/money/how-does-your-revenue-stack-up-to-other-small-businesses/ …) it could be a growth, but the data is unclear.

There are other dangers such as overcounting (owning multiple businesses) and under reporting (husband/bf helping but not “employed”).
