They get away with it because they play the official homosex anthem when they win.

New York, New York is the homosex anthem?
-
Don't they play "We are the Champions" anymore?
-
No, they've been playing Sinatra's version of New York New York since 1980. They used to play Liza Minelli's version (a homosex anthem in that case) when they lost but Liza complained.

This I dispute from experience. I attended four Yankees games between 2000 and 2006, two in the 2001 Subway Series and I heard Queen on each ocassion.
-
I've never been to a Yankees game so I'll defer to your experience. All the sources I've found online say that it's New York New York. Shrug. I dunno what the truth is anymore.
-
Maybe they play it when they play the Mets? They were playing the Mets 3 out of the 4 games I went to. The 4th, in 2003, they were playing the Sox (beginning of the season).
-
A little premature to play that song at the beginning of a season, no?
