promotes the idea that the doesn't torture. The US does torture so look no further than 9/11 pretrial hearings at with testimony from a psychologist who developed CIA torture program testifying that he threatened to kill a prisoners child

Looking at photos of black sites, Mitchell: There's no way of telling if a wall is a 'walling wall' without seeing. Line of questioning speaks to judge-approved gov't destruction of black site. Gov't provided photo 'substitutions' of the site which is obviously insufficient.

Bloody hell. Does anyone understand the connection between normalizing dehumanization at Gitmo and normalizing the dehumanization of these children? Or is it just when you're *sitting here at Gitmo* that it's blindingly obvious?

Just one example of the mindbending testimony we've had this week at Gitmo.

I'm covering the pre-trial hearing of 5 accused 9/11 plotters for . This week we've heard extensively from James Mitchell, the psychologist and contractor who helped design the prisoner torture program.

Important details from the trials at GITMO. The decision to use torture was not made by Mitchell & Jessen. My own take: Mitchell sold the CIA on the idea putting psychologists in the vanguard but the intelligence agencies were to going to torture with or without the shrinks

Good morning from soggy Guantanamo. There was a downpour around 3 a.m., rousing the trailer park and tent city residents of the Camp Justice compound. The psychologist who waterboarded KSM returns to court today for more questioning by lawyer James Connell.

I highly recommend this new study, which takes on the actual parameters of the CIA (and DoD) torture program in the format and context in which it really existed.

My new op-ed: "From its inception,  was about creating a separate system of justice that would make it easier for the US to utilise tactics such as torture, based on the premise that US laws did not apply to prisons outside of the US mainland."

: former psychologist Mitchell described the CIA “new sheriff” approach underlying the abuses as: “Hurt the person until they tell you what you want to know and then you hurt them some more, to find out if they are lying to you.”

--I asked Dr. Mitchell last week when he last visited Guantanamo Bay. He declined to say. Today he answered in court: "Probably 2003-2004." (That's when Gitmo had a black site. The CIA closed it before the Supreme Court ruled in Rasul that Gitmo captives could consult lawyers.)

Don’t forget - no matter how he felt, Mitchell’s used conditioning (not interrogation) techniques designed by the Chinese to “elicit false confessions.” That’s clear from the SASC report & hearings held about these torture methods after the Korean War. In short: he was wrong.
