Why would anyone want to do that?

Because Tubman was scheduled to be the new face on the $20 bill until Mnuchin and Trump cooked up some phony excuse to keep the white slave trader on there!

@SecretService might have a few thoughts on tampering with currency -
LOL, a troll who does not know the law he uses to make pathetic threats. Assuming you are in any way educable, as long as the bills are not rendered unusable and the denominations and serial numbers are unchanged, it’s perfectly legal. I know those were big words, so: Dictionarypic.twitter.com/kxROUfgC71

It's creative, but also it renders the bill useless and it's illegal to "deface" (no pun intended) legal tender. We can do better by pushing the issue until Tubman is on the $20 bill officially.
-
No, it doesn’t. This had already been discussed on this thread and links provided. The denominations and serial numbers are unaffected, which means the bills remain legal tender. This has been verified multiple times. Please don’t spread misinformation.

Pretty sure there’s some Federal law against defacing money tho?
-
Only if it renders it unusable. This does not.
