if I could name just one big mistake I did in the last 5-6 years, it would be to announce a game too early. Never announce a game until it's almost finished!

unnecessary pressure, people disappointed by delays (or if you cancel it). Not a single benefit comes from announcing it too early.

I disagree completely. People think the game won't be finished, etc. You can do marketing in a month if needed. My most successful games had zero announcement/marketing
