so, question for players: let's say you enjoyed a game a lot. Played it for 20-30h . Then the final chapter/phase is rather disappointing. Does this ruin completely your WHOLE experience? or you still think that's a good game? 🤔

based on the replies so far I need to be VERY careful to write good endings to my games 😇😱

        I don't think it's a clear, binary thing.

it's mixed. depending on how bad it is it doesn't ruin the /entire/ thing for me but it does sour the experience and make the game a lot worse. I probably would still like the game but wouldn't recommend it or replay it and would think twice before buying another from the company

It depends for me. There's a difference between a game that just fails to deliver on the build up, and a game that has a genuinely bad final act that devalues the rest as a result. I can deal with "meh".

It's kind of like the longer to takes for me to get to the endgame of a game, the worse it is for me to have a disappointing final sequence. I hate feeling like I wasted all that time- and it stings less if it was only a couple hours.

the thing is - if you had fun getting there, it wasn't wasted time IMHO. It was still fun

I agree with a lot of the similar sentiments expressed here. It depends on the game. If I really really enjoyed it, then a poor ending might no bother me too much. But if the ending is really bad it could taint the rest of the experience for me.

I wouldn't say it ruins it but it might fall from 'good' game to mediocre. It depends too if that part that become disappointment was only valuable thing in whole game or not. if gameplay was not fun, but story was amazing and kept me playing ->

it's becoming huge let-down when story have poor ending. on other hand if gameplay was exciting but story just lazy written on end it doesn't influence my perception much, except 'they could pull it off better'. other ruining experience imo might be ->

Mass Effect 3's ending ruined pretty much the whole series for me. I got over it, but it took years, and I still think it's some of the sloppiest, most retroactively pretentious writing I've ever seen in the genre.

haha I'm one of the few who didn't mind it. I think ME:A is a worse game overall, the only bioware game I didn't even bother to finish
