for example I'd like to do a 3D story based game, but that will never happen since I don't know unity or unreal and would take ages to learn

it's also easier in Unity to do UI - alignment/spacing between objects wouldn't be something you'll need to worry about w/IDE.

Actually, I found Ren'Py's UI system to be more intuitive due to it taking care of different resolutions automatically

very similar in some regards, but Unity has pretty IDE. RenPy does some of the stuff automatically.

faster to do such stuff with code than with an IDE :P the real advantages of unity is if you want custom gameplay/speed
