Then thanks to the great support of my awesome fans, I never really quit :P However I never suffered from depression and in general I'm always a positive guy. And yet it still happened to me. So if you see some devs in that situation, believe me, it can be really depressing!

The question is - how do you define "flop" or "success"? By any means, my first game could be considered either.

yes that's a good question. I define flop if it GREATLY underperformed vs developer's expectations. I don't think it's a global value but depends on individual expectations

some people correctly asked "how do you define a flop"? and IMHO it can be defined only based on your expectations. For me a flop means that the game sold way less than your worst expectations. That's why I always have low expectations lol

Often times its either bad timing (when people dont have funds, bad marketing or sucky algorithms. I cant tell you how many times I'm looking for new games and it's like wading threw mud with cheep knock offs first or so abundant that games with depth get buried.
