personally if I add them to a game I always offer an option to skip them, since not everyone wants to play them

Yes, but only if trivial and/or skippable.

It depends. It would need to add something to the story/heighten the feeling? there's some that do a great job at this, others that make it feel like busy work instead of extending the narrative.

Very much depends on the game itself. If the minigame is decent and doesn't outstay it's welcome then I think it'll be good.

Yes, but only if it makes sense to have them (like hidden object segments if the visual novel is about a detective solving a crime, to give a quick example)
-
I said no; but if the game makes sense w/in the context of the visual novel yes (skippable on a game by game basis). Personally I like trying the minigames but, if I suck or don't care or have no time, I should be able to skip after attempting the minigame. If that makes sense?

It depends: If I chose to sit down and play a narrative-driven game and it suddenly drops me into something else, I might get frustrated. If its short, I'd probably don't mind. If it's skippable or optional, even better. But I think there should be some reward for completing it.

I just noticed that this might come across as to negative. I think that minigames can really improva a VN. But it's hit or miss.

We're doing an RPG with VN elements. We like more gameplay to the games than pure VN.

well a RPG isn't exactly a minigame though :D
