I see devs saying "Steam is earning their 30%". Well... yes and no. Of course you get more exposure than in other PC stores (but this is also due to non-existant competition). However, have they released a game in the last couple of years? because things changed A LOT!

this is a problem I've seen many times, devs who release a game maybe every 5 years and just assume that since 2015 nothing changed. A lot changed already since 2018 and it's just 3 years...

30% is a lie, they took more than that, not including taxes and regional pricing.

In my case, it's around 39%. Some of my friends said theirs is worse than mine. So the number is different for everyone, and I have no idea what caused it.
