Big Fish Games were Steam before Steam existed. It was a huge boost to Wadjet Eye when we started getting 70% from Steam as opposed to 30% from Big Fish (and other casual portals.)

That 70% didn’t seem so bad when all the games on big fish cost $20. My first payment from them (in 2007) paid my mortgage for a year! But soon they brought their prices down so low that my royalties became a joke. So I stopped putting my games on there.

yeah, Steam's cut felt a little more reasonable when i didn't have to put my $15 game 75% off to sell units, too

in any case lowering it for the first XYZ of money is a decent act towards less earning indies. 15% of difference even "only" on first $100k of a dev can make night/day difference. Steam's cut on devs earning OVER $5M is just... no comment lol (let's detax the rich!)
