I used to think that Steam reviews count was a good measure of a game's success, but after my latest game release clearly it's not true anymore. It seems fewer and fewer people leave reviews. And Steam using it as metric to rank games is... how to say, not the best idea 
if you refer to lower sales, it's like that for all genres. The best one for Steam are strategy/sim, those still sell well independently from the quality

not only sales, but visibility and engagement too. back then every games that appear on the steam need to pass "steam greenlight" but now it's not. you could say the competition is high XD
