I was equally interested in art and code as a kid. First games industry job I was hired with some friends on the strength of some prototypes. They assumed I was an artist, so art it was but it was code I had done in that prototype ;)

So basically I was an accidental artist. I ended up as a tech artist as part of my slow attempt to crawl back to code.

Not really sure what qualifies as a background exactly since if we're talking paid jobs, I worked in a library. :D I was a comp sci minor so I at least took programming classes but they weren't game-relevant...

well I meant if you approached gamedev knowing already how to code and such. I knew zero of coding, I learned pascal, C++ and finally python/renpy :P
