I guess one of the things I never really talk about is because of my parent's abysmal attitude to money I don't really spend it like other people. My TV is 15 years old, my coat's 17, never owned a console, I buy games that are 5 years old and on sale etc.

I’m quite similar, though my husband likes to spend (in comparison) so we get a lot of new tech/ treats. It’s good really, because otherwise I struggle through life not spending money. No taxis, walk! No takeaways, always cook…from scratch! No repairmen, DIY! etc

The no repairmen thing has cost me so much in the long term it's crazy.

:( no doubt stress, too. I got very sick and tired trying to do everything myself to save money, even though I had enough to spend. Anyway, half my problems have been solved by learning to spend money and care less about counting the pennies!

I think it's good to find a mid-way, I was like Simon as well, but recently I stopped worrying the world might end if I got a new smartTV once every 4-5 years :P
