I only watched a few videos, but how is it different from all the other crafting/survival games except for the viking setting ? anyway, survival games are always good sellers

It's weird because I would say it's just a well done survival game with the usual mechanics and a meta game of killing some bosses. There's no major hook as far as I can see. Also we haven't played it enough to see all the depth.

I've seen ads for it, but that is since launch and since it's made enough $ to splurge on ads. But maybe it had a great marketing campaign and tons of wishlists? I don't know. Maybe it came out at the right time and did well enough for Steam algo boost. Mike prob has theories.

yeah I was just wondering since from my completely inexperience point of view (I never played any of those survival games) it seems strange it did SO well. Maybe a combo of factors or maybe just out at the right time as you said
