in my search for a replacement for my old Photoshop 6 I discovered "Photoshop Elements". No subscription, pay once, opens all PSD files. Limited features but I'm not an artist, just need to be able to edit PSD and some small fixes. Clip art studio is good alternative too!
I tried GIMP but couldn't get into it, all shortcuts, etc. The two I've mentioned are the best solutions (for my needs) I've found

Yeah - these are not really for me since I need more pure art options. But as I said, gimp is a weird program - I use version... 2.2 I believe, so a really old one. 2.4 is fine too. But anything more recent... I just can't.
