it took them 5 years to make it, so probably that's the main reason they weren't happy. Nowadays not only you need to make good games, but make them fast or not spend too much money (time = money).

there's another take: a clearly inferior game (by their own admission) made way more back in 2012 than their recent release past year. And they had similar results with other games. I think in the next few years we'll see less and less ambitious games by indies

not trying to sound doom & gloom BTW, just sharing my thoughts and maybe helping some new indie to avoid doing the same mistake over and over: "let's do a 3D VR MMORPG as first game"
