I like urban fantasy, if that helps. A great example of it would be Unavowed, or stuff like Buffy/The Dresden Files. It can have monsters and stuff but the tone isn't "horror" so to say, the way I see it.

When people hear horror, I'm assuming they mean hardcore bloody stuff like someone getting graphically killed in a disturbing way. That's the first assumption that comes into my head when someone says they have a horror visual novel. Tough to make that kinda thing sexy.
