OK general consensus is that done like that was bad so I'm removing it. It's not like in this game there are a lot of characters anyway :P

I would prefer it next to the name but it's always useful if more than one character is on screen.

I tried next to the name first but it was very small (due to the frame size)

Very useful! It takes me forever to learn names (both in games and IRL, oof), so having a visual reminder of who that name belongs to is pretty helpful, especially for games that have a large cast...

Seems excessive when they are already on the screen.

It was incredibly useful in PSCD, but I guess it depends on how many characters are in the game/on screen at once.

I think 4-5 max in this game! Worse case I can always make it an option that can be toggled on/off :P

I wouldn't know where to look at, honestly.
If games are designed like this I always end up never looking at the sprites again, fully concentrating on the portraits.
However... I love it, when there's a portrait used for offscreen characters or the MC without onscreen sprite.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I find that image weird. The talker is shown twice?

I'm normally a fan of sidetalkers for reasons I'll explain in a minute but I don't like *that* implementation personally.

Western-written games tend to have smaller heads and more of the sprite body on screen than JP-written games do (a tendency for thigh-up sprites, like you have there). This means the character heads are often very far away from the text.
