I've been wondering, does the length of a VN correlates to how much people will like it? Most highly acclaimed VNs are absurdly long, like 50-100+ hours. If that's the case, is a short VN doomed to mediocrity by design?
My games are typically under 10 hours, so...

I think games you can spend more time playing are more likely to generate *rabid* fans. Because even if you really like a short game, it comes and goes quickly, it's harder for it to make as much impact on you and become a thing you think about lots and talk about lots.

You might have enjoyed a small game and a large game equal amounts, but the time you sank into the long game means it took up more of your life, you were more likely to dream about it, talk about it to others if only to explain what you were doing all day, etc.

And if you feel like you enjoyed them equal amounts but one was huge and one was tiny, you're probably more likely to rate the huge game as a 'masterpiece'.
