if universal basic income was real for everyone what do you think would happen to creative types (indie devs, writers, artists etc)? increase of productivity because no stress? or the opposite, they'd become more lazy since they wouldn't be so stressed for money?

or maybe they would still produce content but taking their times to make it more polished since they had no hurry to release it immediately to pay bills ?

lots of interesting replies. However remember that even if basic universal income was real, as the name says would be enough to live, but not to have a good life, so I think people might still want to earn money to have fancy stuff (Tesla car, big house, etc)

Lazy people would still be lazy. Everyone else would benefit from a removal of stress and be more happy and more productive. There are no downsides to UBI.

My opinion is the above. They would produce content really taking their time cause "imposter syndrome", "nothing is really perfect, so always changing things" etc. I would also see a rise in so called "artists" that would lose interest in projects too quickly.

I think lazy ppl would still be lazy, but probably small games production may decrease due to less stress to find income multi-year/dream projects may be more popular?

The pilots done so far have shown an increase in productivity. Generally, those people who aren't going to work aren't going to work anyway. Creatives are going to work regardless (After all creatives generally aren't in it for the money) so the reduction in stress helps a lot.

To me, it would be the second option, I think. A short deadline means a lot of pression and more chances to have a burnout, or anxiety or depression or the three at the same time. Perhaps it is the contrary concerning fellow artists. It depends.

yes I guess depends a lot on different personalities, I would keep making games not too long anyway

I'd think that overall there'd be less content produced, but more likely it'd be more high quality content and maybe even more niche content- because there'd be less people needing to produce something popular asap just to keep food on the table.

I would still make games and those games would be great. Also probably different. I welcome it.
