when I was 5 I wanted to be a comic artist
at 14-15 I wanted to become a screenwriter for comics or tv series, I already knew about computer and videogames but I never thought I'd be able to make my own
finally around age of 27 I started making indie games
what's your story?

Since you are very successful it is very soothing to me to know you have not started making games until your late 20s

just remember they were very different times. Even when I started, there were no easy tools to make games without learning C++. Now is way much easier with the various libraries/engines/gamemakers!

My issue is that we are surrounded with youth prodigies that are coding game since at least their early teens. Sometimes, it is discouraging when I am almost 30 and have not released a commercial game yet.

I wouldn't call myself a prodigy, but I have been programming since I was 10 or 12. It didn't help as much as you may think it does. It did help me get a job at a AAA studio at ~25 years old, but otoh largely blindsided me to early indie games and now switching careers is hard.

I guess one problem is that when I was growing up innovations in games were mostly driven by tech programming, so that's what I was focused on, when making indie games is much more about gameplay and design - which I am still learning.
