I was 4 when I wanted to be an artist. I was 8 when I wanted to become an architect. I was 11 when I wanted to become a manga artist. I made my first game when I was 19. I went commercial at the age of 27. Now I live and sink with it.

At 5, I wanted to be a dragon. At 13, I wanted to be an actor, but my parents shrieked. At 16, I wanted to be a historian. I went to college for history & fell into volunteer radio work. Which became commercial VO. Which became voice acting. Now, I‘m the voice of dragons.

"voice of dragons" sounds good in a resume :P

Since you are very successful it is very soothing to me to know you have not started making games until your late 20s

-
just remember they were very different times. Even when I started, there were no easy tools to make games without learning C++. Now is way much easier with the various libraries/engines/gamemakers!

I want to be a writer, but recently I've been thinking writing stories for games, especially after playing so many high quality indie games, but I know nothing about game development
-
if you want to do VNs, renpy is rather easy or there are even some more visual tools (but I don't use them)
