one of the hardest things as developer (big or small) is to distinguish between features people really want and the "vocal minority", I made a blog post about it a while ago: https://www.winterwolves.net/blog/2018/01/the-vocal-minority-feature-creep-and-keeping-yourself-sane/ …

for example considering my RPG Cursed Lands, when I announced that it would have been in first person (main character never seen, not even in romance CGs) I had a LOT of people complain, saying the usual "I won't buy it" and so on. ->

but once the game was out, it was a success, and most players didn't care if was seen in first person and preferred much more to be able to customize the MC portrait/race/background, etc etc. So sometimes you really know if an idea works only months after the game is out

I never finished Cursed Lands, mostly because of that. Bought it because it was in the same universe as Lauren. Many things to consider.

well in any case none of the upcoming game has first person view at the expense of main character customization :P

To me customizing the main char but not seeing him with the others usually means that he'll actually be more generic and his race / looks / gender will have little impact on the story. This is why I prefer having a Saren/Elenor or Nelson. But I may be in the minority.

hehe well that's not the case in Cursed Lands since there are several scenes that change based on job/race for example. But I understand what you mean, thanks for the feedback
