for example considering my RPG Cursed Lands, when I announced that it would have been in first person (main character never seen, not even in romance CGs) I had a LOT of people complain, saying the usual "I won't buy it" and so on. ->

but once the game was out, it was a success, and most players didn't care if was seen in first person and preferred much more to be able to customize the MC portrait/race/background, etc etc. So sometimes you really know if an idea works only months after the game is out

Good post!
My advice is to take player feedback seriously, but *never* implement their suggestions. Feedback shows they care, but they don't know the fix.
Ex: "Game should have more endings!" -> Game was too long? Paths not interesting? Need data! -
nah sometimes the suggestions are good, never implementing them means it's pointless for me to listen :D I implemented many things but as I wrote, I need to consider the amount of time/money before doing any big change
