today did a fun thing. I checked the overall revenues of my games, and what I call "virtual salary" (revenues divided by months of development).
Considering overall revenues, there are 4 RPGs in the top10
Considering virtual salary, there's only 1 RPG in the top10

basically it means that all the extra months/development time of RPGs pay less than if I was doing "several VNs". However take this with a grain of salt, since many of those VN were done years ago, back when doing otomes on desktop was still profitable (now they're all on mobile)

it's probably also due to the fact that I foolishly tweaked the RPG rules every single RPG instead of reusing the existing framework with little to no changes. If I did that like those devs using RPGMaker to crank out 10 games/year, ROI could have been better

this doesn't mean I'll do only VNs from now on, but when/if I do more RPG they'll need to be very focused and must not fall into the "feature creep" trap :P
