almost 2 weeks passed since Planet Stronghold 2 release and while it's of course too early to draw conclusions I can tell you that: - I will NEVER make a sci-fi game again - I will NEVER make a sequel of a game - I will NEVER spend 1 year on a game OK that's it for now :D

I thought the current situation might have an impact but then other devs like
@GreyAlien released a game and had amazing sales so clearly that's not it :P1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -

Might be an affect to the positive, in terms of launching a game. More people staying in, more video games played.

Well this isn't the case for all devs that's for sure. I also think if I shipped in 2017 (when we shipped SH) sales would have been a lot higher when comparing like for like. But that might just be a general Steam market has changed thing.

No denying that income from steam market from higher quality games is dropping. Possibly as more and more games are higher quality. Last big tail drop was in 2017, with new the shovelware & steam changing to deal with it. Maybe this is the qualityware flood?

Then algo changes in 2018 onwards also killed a lot of games/indies. But yeah a qualityware flood combined with backlog is a tough situation for full-time indies to compete in imho.

yes I agree, beside a flood of obviously bad games, there's also a bigger amount of good quality/decent games coming out, making everything more crowded
