of course is not as advanced as the "big" photoshop but honestly I don't need all the features, just be able to open the PSD with all layers and effects, and save PNGs from it or if needed do small tweaks, and this works great. No subscriptions and simple low price :)

I'm also using it and I'm very happy with it. It has most functions PS has and it doesn't need you to pay a monthly fee to have the license to use it.

I have both and I use them to different tasks. But CPS is great for comic book style drawings. It's better for that than Photoshop.

Clip Art studio has a very good reputation. I haven't got into it myself yet, but I've heard it has most PS features and better vector tools. I'm surprised you didn't try Krita first, it's free and you can open PS files if that's all you need it for.

well I tried GIMP, but the thing is that they don't work really well with newer PSD versions, and/or have different shortcuts. I'm too used to PS ones, for example hold down spacebar to scroll, etc.

For vectors I recommend Affinity Designer.

thanks, though I mostly need it to open PSD files, so vectors are not useful to me
